What to Look for When Buying Coal

When buying coal, pay attention to its calorific value.
Remember that it is the coal’s calorific value—not its mass—that provides heat.
You can heat your home with 1,200 kg of high-calorific-value coal instead of 2,000 kg of low-quality coal.

EXAMPLE:

2,000 kg/year × 3,500 kcal/kg = 7,000,000 kcal/year;
1,200 kg/year × 6,000 kcal/kg = 7,200,000 kcal/year

Therefore, it is possible to heat your home with 1,200 kg of low-quality coal with high ash and moisture content, it is possible to heat your home with 1,200 kg of high-quality coal with low ash and moisture content.
By purchasing coal with a calorific value of 7,000 kcal/kg instead of coal with a calorific value of 3,500 kcal/kg, you can reduce your coal consumption by half.
Low-calorie coal is expensive coal. Remember that if the coal you purchase has a calorific value of 3,500 kcal/kg, you will have to use twice as much coal compared to coal with a calorific value of 7,000 kcal/kg. When purchasing coal, always inquire about its calorific value.
The calorific value of domestically produced coal offered for sale should be at least 4,000 kcal/kg (on an original basis), while that of imported coal should be 6,000 kcal/kg (on an original basis).
